BuiltByTyler LLC is a small studio in Monterey, California. This page is the whole of what we collect, where it comes from, who handles it and how long we keep it. It covers this website, the demo sites we build at see.builtbytyler.com, and the calls and texts our sales team makes from BuiltByTyler phone lines.
The short version
- We never sell personal information, and we never share it for advertising.
- We do not share your mobile number or your text-message consent with anyone for marketing or promotional purposes.
- Our sales calls are not recorded, transcribed or summarised by AI.
- When you call us, our AI Receptionist may answer. It tells you it's an AI at the start of the call and keeps written notes, never audio. Word-for-word transcripts are deleted after 90 days. More below.
- We text you only if you say yes on a call. Reply STOP and we never text or call that number again.
- This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising pixels.
Visiting builtbytyler.com
- When you email us — your name, your email address, and whatever you write.
- When you use an order or waitlist link — it opens your own email program or hands you to Stripe. There is no database behind it.
- When you apply to sell for us — the answers and the voice memo you send from our application page. See below.
- When you pay — Stripe collects your name, email and billing address on its own checkout page and shows them to us afterwards. Card details are never entered on, stored on, or passed through builtbytyler.com.
No accounts, no logins, no analytics, no advertising pixels, and no cookies set by this site. The demo pages at see.builtbytyler.com work the same way: no forms, no cookies, no tracking.
If we have contacted your business
Where your business details come from. We find local businesses through their public listings, mostly Google Business Profiles. From the listing we keep the business name, phone number, city and address, category, opening hours, star rating and number of reviews, any website it links to, and the public reviews and photos on it. We do not buy contact lists, and we contact businesses, not private individuals.
The demo site. We may build a sample website for your business from those public details, to show you what a site could look like. Every demo says at the top that we built it unasked and that it is not your website, is hidden from search engines, and costs you nothing. If you would like it taken down, tell us on a call, by text or by email and it comes down; we will not contact you again.
Calls. A member of our sales team may call your business from a BuiltByTyler phone line. Calls are not recorded, not transcribed and not summarised by AI. We keep a short log of each call: the number called, the date and time, how long it lasted, how it went, and any note the rep makes (for example, “call back Thursday”). We call a number at most once a day and three times in all, between 9 am and 8 pm your time, Monday to Saturday.
Voicemail. If you call one of our lines and leave a voicemail, it is recorded so we can listen to it and call you back. Nobody outside BuiltByTyler listens to it.
Text messages. On a call, our rep will usually offer to text you a link — to the demo site we built for your business, to a demo of our AI Receptionist with a number you can call to hear it answer, or to the page where you can pay for a website or for the AI Receptionist. We send it only if you say yes on the call, and the rep notes your answer before anything goes out. Each text says who it is from and ends with “Reply STOP to opt out.” Expect one or two messages per conversation, plus replies to anything you text us. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, or STOP to opt out at any time. The exact words our reps use to ask, and how your yes is recorded: builtbytyler.com/text-consent.
Asking us to stop. Tell the rep on the call, reply STOP to any text, or email twade@builtbytyler.com. Your number goes on our company-wide do-not-call list the same day, and nobody at BuiltByTyler calls or texts it again. We keep that list so the promise holds, which is why your number stays on it.
Your mobile number and text-message consent
We do not share, sell, rent or provide your mobile phone number, or your text-message opt-in data and consent, to any third party or affiliate for marketing or promotional purposes. The only outside companies that handle them are the service providers that carry our calls and texts and run our tools, and each does so only to provide its service to us. Your consent covers only the messages you opted in to: from a sales rep, the product you asked about on the call (your demo and website, or the AI Receptionist); from our business line, (831) 230-2743, replies about what you texted us (how that opt-in works: builtbytyler.com/text). Message frequency varies, message and data rates may apply, reply HELP for help and STOP to opt out at any time.
Texts with our business line, (831) 230-2743
You opt in by texting (831) 230-2743 first (builtbytyler.com/text). We keep your number, the date and time of your first text and what you sent as the record of your consent, and use your number only to reply to you. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties. Message frequency varies, usually 1–3 messages per conversation. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help or STOP to opt out at any time. Terms: builtbytyler.com/sms-terms.
When our AI Receptionist answers a call
Our AI Receptionist answers some calls: calls to BuiltByTyler's own lines, calls to the demo number our reps share, and calls to the businesses that pay us to answer their phones. It says at the start of every call that it's an AI assistant. If you ask whether the call is recorded, it tells you there's no audio recording and that it keeps written notes. If you would rather not talk to it, ask for a callback or hang up.
What it keeps. Your phone number and the time of the call; a written transcript of what you said (as speech-to-text heard it) and what it said back; what you told it, such as your name, address, what you need and any booking or callback; and a short summary the AI writes after the call. It does not record audio.
Who handles it. Twilio carries the call. Deepgram turns your speech into words and ElevenLabs gives the AI its voice, both inside Twilio's service. Anthropic's Claude reads the conversation so it can answer you and writes the summary. Google holds the calendar it books on and sends the email notice. If you give an address, OpenStreetMap's public map services check it. Each handles it only to do that job.
Calls to a business that uses it. The details belong to that business. We use them only to run its receptionist and fix it when something goes wrong: never to contact you ourselves, never for marketing and never to train anything. To see or delete what was kept, ask the business or email us.
How long. Transcripts are deleted after 90 days. After a year a call keeps only its date and how it ended, and your number, name, address and the summary are wiped. When a business stops using the receptionist, its call records are deleted within 30 days. We delete one call, or everything from your number, sooner whenever you ask. If you text STOP, we keep that text so you're never texted again.
If you buy a website from us
Stripe takes the payment and shows us your name, email and billing address. To build and run your site we use the details, photos and wording you send us, along with the public listing details above. Your site's hosting and domain records hold what any website needs to run.
Who else handles it
We use a few service providers: for email, payments, website hosting, our phone lines, the tools we build demo sites with, and the speech, voice and AI services behind our AI Receptionist (listed above). They handle information only to do that work for us. We may also share information if the law requires it, for example to answer a valid legal request. We do not share personal information with anyone for their own marketing.
Our sales reps
Our reps are independent contractors who sign an agreement that keeps our lists confidential. They work only inside our own sales app, see only the businesses assigned to them, and may not copy your details anywhere else. The app at sales.builtbytyler.com is for our reps only; it uses a sign-in cookie so a rep stays signed in. It is not a public site.
If you apply to sell for us
What we collect. Your answers on the application page (your name, email, mobile, state, sales experience and the other questions on it) and the voice memo you record or upload. We do not keep your IP address or anything about your device. To stop the form being flooded, we keep a scrambled, one-way code made from your IP address for one day; it cannot be turned back into the address.
What we use it for. Only to decide on your application and to contact you about it. Tyler Wade listens to every voice memo and makes every decision himself. No automated system accepts or rejects anyone, and we never share applications with other companies.
Where it is kept. In storage at Cloudflare, which hosts this website, then on BuiltByTyler's own computer, with a copy emailed to Tyler's business inbox (Google Workspace) so he sees it the same day. We never sell it or share it with anyone.
How long. If we don't end up working together, we delete your application and voice memo within 12 months. If we do, it becomes part of your contractor file. Email twade@builtbytyler.com at any time to have it deleted sooner.
How long we keep it
- Emails and ordersas long as the job needs, and seven years for anything with money attached (tax records)
- Business details from public listingswhile we may contact you; deleted when you ask, except the do-not-call entry
- Call logsat least three years
- Records of your yes to a textat least four years
- The do-not-call listat least ten years, so we never call you again
- Voicemailsuntil we have dealt with the message
- AI Receptionist transcripts90 days, then deleted
- AI Receptionist call detailsone year, then only the date and outcome; deleted within 30 days of a business leaving
- Job applications and voice memosup to 12 months if we don't work together, then deleted
Seeing it, changing it, deleting it
Email twade@builtbytyler.com and ask. We will tell you what we hold within a week, correct anything wrong, and delete whatever we are not required to keep. No form and no fee. If you ask us to delete your business's details, we keep only your phone number on the do-not-call list, so we never contact you again.
California. We do not sell or share personal information as California law defines those words, and we do not disclose personal information to third parties for their direct marketing. Anyone may make the requests above, wherever they live.
Keeping it safe
Our sales records live in our own app and with the providers above. Each rep signs in with a personal access code that we can switch off at once, and reps must tell us the same day if a device with our app on it is lost. No system is perfectly secure, and if something went wrong that affected you, we would tell you.
Do Not Track
This site does not follow you to other websites, so there is nothing for a Do Not Track signal to switch off, and the site does not respond to those signals. No third party collects information about what you do across other websites through this one.
Changes to this policy
If it changes in a way that matters, the new version goes up here with a new date below, and anyone with an open order gets an email.
